{about}

Kira Alexis Tucker is the author of the National Poetry Series-winning collection Wildest, forthcoming from Akashic Books in Fall 2026.

A lifelong love of literature and language fuels Kira's work as a Grants Administrator at the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund and Poet/Authentic Voice Curator at Never Whisper Justice.

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Kira now finds home in Chicago. She recently joined the English faculty of Beacon Academy, where she teaches Environmental Literature. From 2024-2025, Kira served as the Artist in Residence in the Northwestern University Department of English, where she earned an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English with a focus on environmental literature. She was also a recent finalist for a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship.

Kiras latest work is all about dreaming—a poetic investigation spanning the mythos of the American Dream and the landscapes of our collective unconscious.
